The children have been preparing for this special celebration in their French lessons over the past few weeks and had produced some vocabulary drawings and French information sheets. All this preparation meant the children were able to ask for whatever they needed in French, as well as remembering their mercis and s’il vous plaits!

Pupils at St Mary’s begin French lessons in Reception and this builds up to 1 hour of French per week by year 6. The pupils get an opportunity to put all their learning in to practice during the bi-annual school trip to France when they reach year 6, but before they reach year 6 the french breakfast is another opportunity for them to experience immersion in french language and culture.

During the breakfast pupils could be heard exclaiming, “C’est delicieux!”, “J’adore

the croissants!” and “Merci beaucoup Madame Jones!”. By the end of breakfast everyone was feeling very confident in using their best french phrases.

Thank you Madame Jones for organising this wonderful learning experience and celebration.
