Lilac visit The Lamb – November 2014

imageLilac Class visited The Lamb Inn, near Piltdown, where proprietor Mr Simon Maltby introduced the children to a variety of workshops that enabled them to “train” to be waiters and waitresses for the forthcomingThanksgiving Supper.

One parent who attended the trip said “It was the most inspiring school trip I have ever been on!”

In a practical, real life setting the children were involved in activities that allowed them to apply their maths and English skills in a practical hands on way by deciding on their choice of  meal from the menu, finding the total cost and then calculating what tip to leave their fellow “waiters.” They also learnt how to set the tables and take orders.  Most importantly the children developed their social skills and worked together as a team.
