May 2015 – Sats week

Thursday 14th May, 2015

Lilac Class, Good luck for the week ahead. You have worked so hard to prepare for the tests, and no matter what - you are awesome! You are kind, caring and smart in so many different ways (and the SATs are only testing a fe wolf your skills). It has been a joy and a priveldedge to to see you F.L.Y. with success. Remember growth mindset and that magic can happen outside your comfort zone

Today was the final day of the KS2 SATs. Y6 have been fantastic and really impressed everyone with their hard work and focus.

SATs mascots

SATs mascots

Over the last few weeks Y6 have been working hard to create SATs mascots to help remind them of their strengths and to keep them calm during exam time. The children designed and made the mascots themselves as part of their DT module. What fun and colourful characters!

IMG_0890Each morning before school the children enjoyed a special SATs breakfast organised by Miss Maltby, who was helped by Mrs Charman, Mrs Stirrat and even some of the Y5 children. The children were treated to fresh fruit, toast and fruit juice, all served IMG_0869by their supportive Y5 classmates and teachers. Over the week the children managed to eat an incredible 6 loaves of bread, 3 jars of chocolate spread, litres of fruit juice and a large bag of fruit – all great fuel for minds and bodies during exam time!

IMG_0881During the final breakfast the Y5 children collected some quotes from he Y6 children on the impact the breakfasts had had upon their day.

“The breakfast gets you energised.”

“It helps get your brain ready.”

“It helps me because I am not hungry in my test.”

“I like the toast and it gets you ready for SATs!”

“I like the SATs breakfast because the Y5 are supportive by coming in early.”

Thank you very much to everyone at St Mary’s who worked hard all week to support Y6 in their SATs.
