September 2014 – Farm to Fork Stunning Start

20140924_140358What a fabulous start to our topic!  The afternoon started with a whole school ploughman’s followed by a visit from a farm.  The children saw chickens, tractors, horse shoeing and story telling.  The children tasted different sausages and were tasked to design our very own “heavenly Hartfield sausage”.  The event ended with a whole school nature walk through the fields followed by a chocolate beetroot cake grown with homegrown beetroot.

The children really enjoyed the afternoon and were brimming with enthusiastic smiles!

“Seeing the horses being shoed was exciting, smelly, but a first!”  Flo – Yr 5 pupil

“I loved how the chicken eggs were really strong!”  Harry – Yr 5 pupil

“I was really surprised the eggs didn’t crack when I stood on them!”  Lucy – Yr 6 pupil

Other children declared it was the “highlight” of their week.20140924_150742
