Today we bid a very fond farewell to all of our year 6 pupils. They have all made a huge contribution to the school and they will all be missed by children and adults. We send them all off to secondary school with our very best wishes.
Year 6 led the service with prayers, readings and a dramatic performance. As is traditional they also shared with us their special memories of their time at St Mary’s. Each Y6 pupil recalled a time where they had to take a step of faith, a favourite memory and some of the challenges they overcame during their time at St Mary’s.
We also bid farewell to Mrs McGlew, Mrs Polley and Miss Foster. Children had shared their memories with Mrs McGlew at an assembly earlier in the day, so at the end of year service Mrs Rowberry, chair of governors, presented Mrs McGlew with a pamper hamper and vouchers.
Awards were then presented to children for effort, progress and sporting acheivements. Mr Whitmore, a former St Mary’s governor then presented Izzy and Harry with the Whitmore shield for Graciousness.
Finally all the Y6 children were presented with youth bibles to mark their transition from KS2 to KS3. Once again, thank you very much to St Mary’s church for these gifts.
We wish all children and adults a very happy and healthy summer and send very best wishes on to all of those who will not be returning to St Mary’s in September.
