A huge crowd of 50 friends and families of St Mary’s gathered at Hampton Court Palace on a gloriously sunny Sunday for a private tour of Hampton Court Place. Anne, our guide explained to the children what life would have been like at HCP during Tudor times – although she was very impressed with how much the children had already learned about the Tudors during this term’s ‘Step Back in Time’ learning journey theme!
Everyone enjoyed visiting the kitchens were some historians were cooking authentic Tudor recipes and demonstrating how to make and white will a quill pen, crafted from white swan’s feathers. The tour continued to show us the great hall built for Henry’s favourite queen, Jane Seymour. Eldoie (6) impressed us all by correctly reciting all of Henry’s queens in perfect order. The tour continued around the rest of the palace and finished in the grounds and of course with the famous maze. By the time we finally found our way to the centre of the maze we were all exhausted, but happy after a wonderful day enjoyed with friends and family. Thank-you to everyone who was able to join us at Hampton Court Palace.
